Day Three (day two of SXSWedu)

I am right now in the conference: Are we there yet?.

I think it is quite interesting. It is about how Project Red is trying to help push up education without just adding technology. Technology is not the answer. Its the way you use it.

There is a page about this in the links section.

What we did on Day Two

Here is a list of what we did today. This could be called our schedule.

  • 8:30-10:00– Opening session. Super boring. I totally zoned out so I have no idea about what they were talking about.
  • 10:15-11:15– Turning STEM into STEAM. Very, very cool. I absolutely loved it and I took a lot of notes on it that I am happy to  share with anybody!
  • 11:30-12:30– Are students leaving us in the  digital dust?  I thought that this one was very awesome. They had a bunch of students there that they asked different questions to and I loved hearing the conversation. They also had a little website thingy that we could put our thoughts about the conference onto. Here’s the link to the conversation: you are going to have to scroll all the way down to the begining of the conversation.
  • 12:30-2:00– Lunch Break. Crepes anybody? Awesome!
  • 2:00-3:00– 21st Century Skills. All it was, was some students explaining their project of the future is now.
  • 3:15-4:15– Education thru Robotics. It was pretty cool how they explained how we could be bettering education thru robotics. They really explained it well.
  • 4:30-5:30– Keynote Speaker-Levar Burton. No, not any of Tim Burton’s brothers (if he has any). This guy created the TV show ‘Reading Rainbow’. Now its becoming an app!
  • That is the end of the conferences for today!

Day Two

Our trip has finally begun!!!

🙂 😛

If you are in austin, polvos is an awesome place to eat. The rice they have there tastes like my mothers. Its awesome!

Keep It Weird Here

“Hey dad, whats the building with the blue lights on top?” “I dont know.”

“Dad, whats the tower building with the blue lights?” “I dont know.”
“What about the tall building with the white lights on the top?” “I really dont know sweetie.”
”‘Howdy donuts. Donuts. Kolaches. Crossaints.’ Dad whats a kolache?” “I dont know.”
Alright. Austin is definitely unknown territory if dad doesn’t even know. Yep definitely unknown. Now i know why they say to keep austin weird.

More of Day One

Well guess what my day turned out to be way better than i thought it would be! My dad and his co-worker ended up renting a super awesome car and a sweet house! We went to Target and so far i’ve had cheese-its, apples, and a twix bar for lunch and dinner. And its not like we’re just hanging out and blissing out at the house either. Now theres a model, hair stylist, and a makeup artist at this place! We’re doing a photoshoot! Ya! Today has turned out great and im happy to be in austin! Keep austin weird!

Day One

We had to get up @ 5:00 am be at the fargo airport at 6:00 am the flight left at 7:00 am we got to the MN airport around 8:00 am. The plane we just boardedwas supposed to leave at 9:00 am but we didnt board til almost 11:00 am we’re about an hour and a half into the flight and its supposed to be two and a half hours long. Its only 12:30 and its already been a long day. Ugghh!!! I hope it gets better!

Here is my rough, un-finished list of why i would driving is way ( and i mean way) better:

1. Your ears pop every time you go up or come down and the popping lasts for about twewnty minutes
2. Airplane peanuts are absolutely horrible! Especially when your dad makes you eat them because “you wont have to go to the bathroom so often because of the salt”
3. You dad sorta hogs the ipad. On road trips he cant use the ipad cuz hes driving.

Check back often-ish for anymore udates on the list or life.
